Hiya!

I'm Alice Sowa, born in Madrid, grown in the Bay Area and now a designer currently based in Iceland with a BFA in Industrial Design and minor in Sustainability from Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

I have recently completed Fabricademy's 6 month textile academy where I have been exploring the intersection between textiles, digital fabrication, and biology. The first 3 months of the program were broken into weekly topics where we hyper focused on a variety of textile related topics ranging from e-textiles to bio chromes to open source hardware, and more. The last 3 months have been an independent material and process driven research project about reformulating the ceramic slip casting process for the nomadic creative. This project was an epic harmony of my textile, ceramic, and industrial design background fueled with wanting to make the ceramic process more accessible and utilize local waste stream systems. The project details can be found here.

My skills range from Design Thinking, Material Research, Product Development, and Branding with a mindset of developing regenerative systems.

In a snapshot, I am an interdisciplinary designer drawn to textiles, ceramics, cultural exchanges, and using design as a means for discovery and connection. I am creatively inspired by many things, but most notably my passion for the great outdoors from ocean to mountains and beyond.
